PRESS RELEASE - November 2004

RENOWNED LAKELAND HOTEL SELLS TO BLACKPOOL FAMILY

Bowness Leisure Plc has sold the Burnside Hotel and Parklands Country Club to the Taylor family of Blackpool.

This was a highly confidential transaction handled by Julian Troup of FPDSavills with the sale taking place at an undisclosed sum.

This renowned three star hotel commands an elevated position overlooking Lake Windermere and operates with 57 en suite letting bedrooms and a stand-alone leisure club known as Parklands Country Club.

The hotel never came on the open market and Julian Troup, Director of FPDSavills, handled the matter in a highly confidential fashion.

Bowness Leisure Plc will continue to own and operate the Holiday Ownership and self-catering business located alongside the hotel whilst the Taylor family of Blackpool will continue to run this successful hotel as well as the two hotels they already own in Blackpool being the Doric Hotel (103 bedrooms) and the Park House Hotel (also 103 bedrooms).

Julian Troup confirmed, "an equitable deal was agreed and both parties honoured the confidentiality and a smooth transaction was completed on the back of a limited period of exclusivity. This is further evidence of the continued buoyancy in the Lakeland hotel market and our ability to transact in a highly confidential fashion".

This is the second substantial Lakeland hotel transaction that FPDSavills have been involved during 2004 following the sale of the 71 bedroom Hilton Keswick Hotel to Lake District Hotels Limited who have renamed the hotel - the Lodore Falls Hotel.
